Minneapolis Sailor to Compete in Around-the-World Race
A Minneapolis sailor, Nabil Amra has announced he will compete in the Golden Globe Race, a non-stop, single-handed yacht race around the world. Starting from Les Sables-d’Olonne, France, the race will be 27,000 nautical miles, and must be done without going ashore.
Interestingly, no modern communications or GPS technology are allowed as with other around the world races. The race is expected to take approximately nine months to complete, depending on weather conditions. For more information, KSTP has published an article about the race and the sailor.
